How to remove the centre rear seat bench?

I had some wiring run to the rear centre armrest and took off most of the rear seat pieces. The centre rear seat bench is secured with latches at the front area at each side and according to workshop instructions the catch hooks should be released with screw driver. I tried to press the hooks from each side with a screwdriver from the whole at the sides of the hooks but could not make the either one release.

Did I press too gently? I was able to run the wiring without removing the centre bench and did not try seriously but it could be useful to know how to do it properly without breaking anything if I next time want to take the seat off.

You have to press the clips in quite hard and give the seat a sharp upward jerk.

Thanks, I was assuming that but obviously pressed too gently. Will have to try it some other time again.

They are very tightly fitted and even some of my young body shop guys have asked me how to lift the seat. It is pure brute force but they are frightened of damaging something so I understand

I'm glad to see I have something common with some young guys, have to tell the wife that (I won't say it is about being afraid of breaking parts from the car)

Usually if one assumes that brute force is the right solution, it isn't. It is better to ask first someone who knows.
