I have a S350L w221 first registration January 26 2007. I bought it directly from MB in Stuttgart in January 2008 with 20.000 km on the speedometer. Now the speedometer says 48.000 km, and I have some irritating noise from the left front wheel. MB has told me, that they need to change the suspension, and this is not covered by the 2 year warranty. I was wondering - why not? I don't think it's normal, that the suspension has to be changed after only 48.000 km (90% of this is highways and the rest is normal roads). Any suggestions?
It depends on the issue you have, if it is like from an accident of bent struts from a severe pothole etc. it would not be under warranty but I assume you do not have anything like this and then it should be a warranty item (unless the car was bought with some very specific disclaimers for warranty).
Do you know any details about the issue, if it is possibly to show on a photo, please post.
No accidents or potholes. I got the message at the last service (40.000 km), that the left frontwheel-suspension should be changed at next service (65.000 km), but since the 40.000 km service, where there was no noise, the noise are now so irritating, that I want the suspension shifted ASAP.

As you said, this does not sound normal. I can understand the workshop making a mistake when they estimated that one joint has a bit of wear but should last to the next service while it didn't. Now this kind of a mistake is not a big thing, you should try to figure out why they are not willing to fix it. Clearly if it is badly worn or makes even some noise, the joint needs to be replaced (not the suspension).
