I picked-up my new car last night and it is joy personified.
I've only programmed the garage-door opener and will train the voice command system this weekend. I have to concentrate extra-hard while driving, because I want to play with all of the nifty fiddleybits. (I'm a convert to the benefits of a gentle massage during the morning drive into work.)
One minor glitch, the factory forgot to install the bluetooth module, so I'll pick that up later.
Many thanks to all the contributors in the BenzWorld forums... I learned so much about the infinite control functions - that I was better prepared for the delivery.

Nothing important but it cannot have been the factory that forgot the BT module. I don't know how it works in the US but it must be either the dealer or some other site in the US that prepares the car for delivery.
Enjoy the car and drive safely (keep looking at the traffic even if the car feels more interesting )

I'm guessing it would be emissions related. Wasn't this system operating on one bank only, on the V8, haven't looked at the V12. Modern catalysts need constant high temperature and it might be difficult have that with ZAS.
Thanks for the information, just out of curiosity I am going to pursue this further and I will post any information I can find out.

Discontinued due to the new turbo charged engines. A little more complex to do with turbo's. The old s500 had ZAS as an option but the new engine does not have it. My dealer said that due to the new 600 with the turbo, it would make no sense to have the v8 with zas and not the 600 seeing as the 600 technically has every option available.

I'm not taking everything a dealer's sales guy says as the ultimate truth but the turbo on the V12 certainly must be an issue (and you did not say it was a sales guy). But I don't buy the argument "the S600 needs to have all options", after all it does not have the glow plugs I have in my engine. To me ZAS is "just part of the engine" and I believe MB had V12 engines a long time without turbos since ZAS was discontinued.
