since I don't like the GL or R class, I was wondering if anyone tried or has 3 car seats in the rear of the w221? I got twins on the way and a 4YO, so I need 2 baby seats and 1 toddler seat. while a minivan would be the most practical, I wouldn't be caught dead driving one of those as a daily driver.
I have no idea but to help others answer, can you explain if your idea is to have two seats with the seat back to the front? Infants should travel this way.
I have not read the car manual but the rear airbags cannot be switched off, is it OK if the kids are travelling face backwards? I assume this is better than if they were face forward, the airbag would push heavily the kids seat in the latter case.
On the other hand, it would be a bit complicated for the older one to enter the middle seat if both sides had a face backwards kid's seat.
You can fit two with ease, but 3 is a bit of a stretch. I really doubt you can put 3 because a baby seat is the size of 2 4 years olds. So metaphorically speaking thats like putting 6 4 year olds in the back of a sedan, you can stuff them in but I'm not sure how comfortable they'll be or how much damage can be done to your interior.

A W221 isn't a mom mobile. I couldn't even imagine the damage 3 kids would do to the rear of a new S class. It would be very expensive and fix and the car's resale value would decline sharply. No one will want to buy a used S550 with a trashed rear seating area. Stick with a nice minivan or stop having kids.

This is very much what came to my mind. But having another thought, if one has to consider kid's safety against possible damage to the car, the W221 would be the most likely choice.
One could use some protection but three small kids with kids seats is in any case an issue on a sedan (if all at the rear).
