Updated my 2007 Command: Tons of more options!!
I have a 2007 S65 and I took it to my dealer and they updated my command system.
It allowed me to do Sooooo many more things.
1. Plays DVDs
2. An extra option in "map display" to let you see the screen in 3D
3. Adds a very cool traffic option so you can see traffic delays ahead of you
4. Allows you to browse through radio pre-sets with the steering wheel now
5. Added an item call the "symbols" option on the nav screen to view POI's around you quickly
6. Added quite a few nav options to make the command system better.
7. Updated the maps and POI's (Now my new neighborhood is on the map, Woot!)
VERY COOL GUYS... go get this done to yours. I called around to 6 different dealerships and they don't know how to do this. If anyone has questions on this update and patch to there command system I will give you my service advisors name in Utah. The cost was $220 bucks.
As of 10/4/07 the current navigation update is MBUSA part # BQ 646 0231. For most if not all MY07 vehicles, you will need to update the Telematics system software for the navigation update to work properly. Here is the thing if you mention MBUSA DTB P-B-82.85/512d the Telematics update is free because the navigation DVD cannot properly load.
Purchase the navigation DVD then bring the vehicle in to service with the complaint that your navigation DVD will not load, mention the DTB, and the Telematics will be updated free. In addition, check with several dealerships to receive the lowest price on the navigation DVD.

This update sounds excellent - will it work for my 2006 S500 Navigation system or is it only available for 2007 and newer systems?
You do not mention where you come from. If you are talking about a 2006 build date (Euro) S500, that would be a W221 and the update would be available for this car.
But if you are from the US and actually mean a "US MY 2006" W220, then it is no-go.

The traffic jam option alone is well worth it.
Wow, I thought you would have just traded the entire car in for an 08 because the 07 was 'outdated'. Weren't you selling this S65?

That is correct.
In Dubai (UAE) the MY 2006 is a W221. The only crazy part is that Dubai is changing soooo fast that unless they have a new update every month it will be out of date wrt maps

This Comand update is certainly valid then for your car. You should do both, update Comand and buy an up-to-date Map DVD.
I'm not sure if I remember this from the W211 maps but the latest MAP update may need Comand updated first. Which map version are you using now, is it from the factory or have you updated it since car delivery?

Well the car was purchased from local dealer, as a pre owned and navigation system is not working. They have replaced the antenna as well as updated the command system. The navigation still not picking any satellites
So once they get it fixed I will let u know the version etc.
