ECU location

I am looking to add the RENNtech ECU upgrade, however, their instructions only include the W220. Does anyone know where the ECU is located on a W221???

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean you would change the ECU yourself but don't find it from the car? Sounds a bit scary to me.

The part from the EPC looks like one would have difficulties hiding it, it is too big. I did not find a photo of the S600 engine bay but it looks like the engine control module is placed on top of the engine in a V8 while on the V6 it appeared on the left, just in front of the fire wall.

Not scary at all. I found it and I have already removed it. No sweat. The reason I had trouble finding it is because it has been changed from the passengers side to the driver's side since the W220. I can't wait to see how the performance is with that extra 120 lb/ft of torque. I should have it back in in a few days. Sending it to RENNtech for mods. Heck of a lot cheaper than buying an S65.

It is located in front of the firewall on the driver's side inside the fuse box. It is located on the underside of the cover itself. It took all of about 30 minutes to do. That includes the time I took being slow and careful about it. Next time it won't take 10 minutes. It takes a torx fitting to remove the box cover. I hope to take pictures to show everyone for future reference. Give me a little time for that.

I also asked what the speed limiter would be changed to . I was told it would be changed from a top speed of 130 to a new top speed of around 185. That's good enough for me.

Engine ECU for the '07 W221 is located on top of the engine. If you will remove the air cleaner assembly you will see that it's just fixed in the top of the engine

No , that's not correct. It is located under the top cover of the fuse box. Not the air cleaner. It is located in the engine compartment area next to the driver's side hinge of the engine hood. Four screws allow the cover to come off and under that cover are fuses.

Hello minimaybach. I was talking with the original owner of my car today and he has a 2007 S600 as well, he is very disappointed with the 220km/h top speed cut & wants it removed to the same type of limiter as you have.

Thanks.
