I guess I must have been a little to enthusiastic on the turnpike last night...but I ended up getting a rock ping on my front windshield.....I was wondering about getting it repaired instead of replaced..I replaced my windshield on my h2 and its been noisy ever since.....does any one know if there are any downsides to repairing this? Also any shop referrals...Im in the Brooklyn, New York area
I would most definitely have it repaired instead of replaced. The window doctor in my area did it and you couldn't tell anything had ever happened. As far as downsides, the worst that could happen is you'd still have to have it replaced. My feeling is, it's going to happen again so I would wait until it is a really bad crack before spending the money and time and potential risks of getting a new one.
Sorry, I don't have a referral because I do not live in your area.

I replaced the front windshield on my S550. The cost was about $700 for the glass and about $150 for the installation. Damn freeways and big trucks man!
I guess it's my turn, I got a rock chip last week and within a couple of days this thing has spread about 10 inches. I was told I may not be able to have it repaired because its to long. I need to contact the dealer tomorrow to see how much it would be to replace it.
We had the windshield in the ML replaced, it had a massive hit to it from the interstate. The people who did it did it well and properly, so extra noise. So a proper replacement can be done, just really shop around first.
Did any of you have comprehensive insurance? I can't imagine any MB owner w/out it... I think most policies cover glass--some 100%, no deductible.
Yes I'm military and I have my insurance with USAA. My comprehensive policy allows my windshield to be repaired for free (i.e no deductible), however my needs to be replaced so I'll have to pay my deductible.
