Does anyone have any information on when M-B will start allowing european delivery for the S550? My assumption has been that they would not provide the 7% discount for cars picked up at the factory until they met the initial backlog of orders for this new model. But, that was last year's guess and as of mid-January there is still no projection as to when this program will begin.

Quite honestly I didn't even know that European delivery of S classes was discontinued for now. I will most likely never get the chance to pick up a MB in Germany , but I did witness the delivery system over in Stuttgart (Sindelfingen) last May. It is really nice seeing the new owners pick up their cars at the factory. The tour of the plant the day I was there happened to illustrate the assembly of the new S class. I never knew just a few months later I would actually buy one. That factory is an awesome place to see and visit. It is HUGE. I recommend anyone to go there and see this factory in action.
I just noticed on the MBUSA website that the S550 is now listed in the models available section. Didn't used to be. I've had my dealer attempting to pull strings to get me a late September 08 delivery.
I used the ED for my E320 wagon back in '98. It was way cool. Loved it and am looking forward to it again.
