Two antennas???

As I browse through Ebay motors, I notice that some 2007 S classes have an antenna on the roof as well as on the boot lid. My brand new 2007 S600 only has an antenna on the roof. It is fully loaded , so could someone explain to me why some cars have the extra "nubby antenna" on the trunk lid in addition to having one on the roof.

The one on the trunk is for satellite radio? Do you gave satellite radio? Maybe they've integrated the satellite radio, the radio/nav antenna into one now.

Early production models had two antennas (satellite on trunk) everything has been integrated into one antenna on the roof.

Thanks for clearing that up. It's just odd that they made that change within only months of its introduction. I guess I got lucky. I also find it odd that my '06 CL500 only had the one on the roof. The CL had nav and satellite radio. Why did that technology come late on the 2007 S class when a 2006 (and maybe earlier Benzes) had only one antenna? Just strange to me.

The CL's have just as many antennae as the the '07 S-Class, you just can't see them. Since the trunk lid of the CL isn't made of steel, the antennae for C-TEL, NAVI, and SAT can be installed on the underside of the trunk without affecting performance.

Gotcha. Come to think of it, I don't recall any visible antennas on my recent CL. I guess both antennas were hiding underneath the boot lid.
