I just bought a 2007 S600 and my favorite feature has to be the distronic cruise control. To me, no S-class should leave the factory without it. The heated seats are fabulous as they relax my sore back. Even my wife brags on this feature and she is not a "car person".
I thought I was going to have a hard time getting used to the toggle switch concept and the stalk gear shifter , but I actually like it a lot. The power of the 600 is incredible!
I'm very happy with the sound system. I just wish I could figure out how to listen to my concert DVDs through the system. It doesn't recognize the format.
The navigation system and phone systems are without a doubt the best systems available to date.
The new S class is definitely a home run. I have owned over 40 cars and this car is one that I hope I have sense enough to never trade off. I LOVE IT. The outgoing S class was a joke compared to the new one. At this time, no luxury car comes close to the S Class.

Good to see a satisfied customer. I have been looking at the 07 and giving it some thought down the road. I looked at the Nav online and it did not seem to be as good as Acura or Lexus re: use. No touch screen or voice activation. What is it about the nav that makes it so good.
Re the old S being a joke compared to the new one, I won't disagree because indeed the new S is fabulous. This feeling is not new however for many cars, it always seems that the new model renders the old one obsolete with new designs and features. Compare the '73 S class to the '74, '80 to '81, '91 to 92, '99 to 00 and now.
The real test is not how the new S is in terms of features but in terms of reliability, that will determine if the new S is a joke along with the old S.

Actually the nav on the new S class is voice activated if you want to do it that way. I never have fully used the COMAND system but the other day it was very responsive to commands when I described an address. It is easier than doing it with the toggle switch , which to me is BETTER than a touch screen. I hate my wife's Lexus infotainment system and nav. Way to complex compared to the new Benz. The toggle switch method allows much quicker zooming in and out than the touch of a (+) and a (-) button on the screen. The voice command method on the Benz even has a list of popular POI commands such as local gas stations and hotels. My wife's Lexus seems to take forever to find these features. On the Benz, All you have to do is make sure that "NAVI" is highlighted at the top of the big screen and from there you press the comand button on the steering wheel. Up pops a small list of possible commands on the main screen to choose from such as : New destination, local gas station, nearest hotel, previous destination, etc, etc.
Then after a few prompts from the female voice, you're on your way. Try it!!!!
I guess I've misunderstood and should not get involved but what do you mean with this? If mercedesman likes his distronic, that is no BS. A totally different thing if distronic is a great thing or not, but this was a personal opinion and nobody else can say it would be wrong.
I find the distronic plus feature great too, not sure if it is the best thing in my MB, the more or less invisible safety features may be more important but I do like the distronic.
A pity that discussions easily reflect what each one owns, if you have a feature in your car, you easily emphasise that too high over other features. If you don't have a feature, you easily name it useless. I'm not claiming that for you, but your post triggers ideas towards these thoughts. Anyway I would hope MB owners would realise they have no reason to make that mistake. Everybody's own MB is great for its owner and that is what matters most.

The "BS..." remark is towards his claim of owning an 07 S65
