To celebrate its world premier, Mercedes today has published an in-depth press release outlining the Concept Ocean Drive, detailing everything from its design characteristics to its equipment and technical specifications. Of course, there's also a wealth of new photos depicting the concept as well, offering a superb look at what is an undoubtedly unique vehicle.

everthingmercedes,

thanks for posting this and the previous thread.

I think the concept is stunning and frankly far superior to anything that Rolls Royce or Bentley have at the moment and I include the new Rolls Royce convertible.

Got the answer to my question .... it is going to be a four door.

I really hope they build this.

Thanks again.

I wish I could go to the NAIAS just to see the Europeans' new cars and Lexus and Toyota. Those are my only real interests.

Is it just me, or is there a lack of wood trim which should belong in a Mercedes, and more so in an S-Class? Maybe it's just the pictures.

Think the wood is there it`s just that the wood trim chosen is dark.

That is one ugly car. Does Mercedes ever establish any unique themes to design, or are all their models completely different from each other? There seems to be no gradual flow in aesthetics anymore. Everything is totally different, and the models preceding it immediately look dated. This is far from Sacco's philosophy.

Gradual evolution of the S-Class can be detected from the W116 all the way to the W220. Today, Mercedes simply do not resemble Mercedes anymore. They're more American/Japanese than they are German.

Not that I'm a business guru or anything...but I believe that would be because of the economic rule of competition. It'd be nice if Mercedes would realize that we all love them being them, and that they should branch out on their own limbs, instead of following comp.
but hey, I'm not an executive...just a 15 year old kid, I've got no say, and my 5.15 an hour wage means my opinion doesn't matter to MB.

Though, I do plan to attend CCS to become an automotive-designer...so maybe in 10 years I will be able to relieve some of this stress of radical changes in designs...
