Mb S550

Has anyone have or had a chance to do a comparison of the S550 class with & without
doing any tinting? If so, was it really significant enough. I live in Florida but wish to
maintain a low profile and tinting has never been considered.
From what I have found, the infrared glass reduces internal temperatures by 18% so
to me, that seems significant.

I live in Nevada and find the laminated IR glass enough. I am not a fan of tinting and even with my '06 S430 I did not have it done. The wood surfaces can get pretty warm (hot) but cool quickly with the excellent A/C system.

I have heard that tinting on the 550 cancels out radar so that if you use one of the windsheild mounted detectors, it does not work.

I have a 550 on order and my aftermarket tech said I had to mount the thing in the bumpers to make it work.

So they included spots in the windshield for things, say radar detectors, to work? Very nice.

I'm sure you knew it but they did not think of radar detectors but stuff like garage door opener, toll road paying systems etc.
