I had a ton of shopping yesterday. I had to valet the s550....guess what ...you can not lock or isolate the trunk...What were the mercedes engineers thinking...you have a huge trunk that other people have access too...What is the use of having that spade key in the electronic key...Utter useless! you can only lock your glove box...now those valet people have access to all your things....
BTW..BMW 750 you can lock your trunk...and so are all the lexus...why not ours..
We ordinary users don't always understand why something is missing from the car. I personally never need the valet lock feature but I understand it is important in the US (at least). This feature used to exist in MB but seems to have been removed, now I've seen posts for W211 that a retrofit kit exists.
The guesses are that this is because of some cost savings or for some litigation type of reasons, I'm pretty much assuming the latter. Probably some sort of solution on the case and now they can at least offer it as a retrofit kit. Don't know if that is for the W221, haven't bothered checking if it actually appears on my own car. I hope the retrofit kit finds the way to your car too.

I have an S550 on order and my dealer told me the truck has a key hole kind of hidden
in the area where the emblem S550 is located and the valet key is in the main key and
slides out. Please let me know if this is correct.

Mark
Still did not try how it works on my car but when I look at the US-manual, I don't see a description for "manual" boot locking at all while the Euro manual does describe this.
At least the Euro cars allow the trunk to be closed with the "emergency key", see the attached figure. Actually reading the previous page from the manual, it states that the boot can only be unlocked with the emergency key if first locked with this key. Isn't this more or less the valet locking feature?

I just checked and there is a key slot located on the left side under the chrome trim...the same place the trunk release lever is located. It would be just like the image shown...you have to bend down and look up to see it.

If it was me I wouldnt worry, I mean if the valet steals anything then its not like they can deny it ! last time I handed over the SLK to the valet we had stuff in the car and boot and i didnt even give it a second thought !
I think nevadajack needs to look again. My manual keyhole in the trunk does not allow you to remove the key except in the first position. Clearly there's a difference between the diagram posted and the US cars...
How ridiculous that M-B has taken such a useful feature away! You can only lock a valet out of the glovebox and not the trunk!!
