i can get you guys the modules to be able to import video into the screen of the new 221, but you have to use an external video source... i dont know the price off the top of my head.. but i used it for a base model 221 and the guy wanted the rear camera input...

Did youhave any luck unlocking the TV/DVD to allow passengers to watch while you are driving. I have the S320 cdi new 2007 model and would love to have this unlocked for my wife and kids.

2008 SL and CL have dvd video playback on the front screen.. on these models the DVD video can be enabled while moving...
Perhaps you would prefer leaving the details out but are you talking about the external box that is on sale at eBay or some DAS programming? Odd if this applies for the CL but not the Euro S-class.

i havent seen the ebay piece yet so i cant comment on it but essentially its not programming (at least yet) . the networking protocols for the 08 my SL and CL are different and allow for a small module that will send a command to enable the image on screen. this is different from the 07 MY and earlier which used a similar module to trick the HU into enabling the rear cam input for video use.
the 08 MY vehicles support both rear cam input and DVD video which opens up some interesting possibilities. there is still some research to be done but i have had the proof of concept working with my laptop and test rig hooked up. ill post some pics in a couple of days.
There is a filter module in several brands which cuts the speed signal and allows DVD in motion. The problem is that most of these modules block the rear view camera from working - which is a problem.
The so-called rear camera port is just the TV port in Europe.

ahh that must be an issue with euro models because the US models work differently: the US models do not have TV tuners and until this year did not allow any DVD video playback on the front screen. additionally the video module had nothing to do with speed: it tricked the front screen into thinking that the rear cam was on but full function could be kept. the 08 MY US S class now has a totally different system with rear cam and dvd playback totally seperate.
additionally on the new (221) S class command control unit the video is actually transmitted via a high speed serial bus to the display screen. the same unit also has (at least on US) a 2nd unused high speed port that is marked for tv tuner use.
