RE: re selecting wheels for new s

One of my many 221 dilemmas so far. Really like the AMG wheels but not sure if they can be had without the AMG package ...

Alternatively, for a more conservative look, the multispoke [:I]

CONGRATS on your new S btw!

Not sure about the wheels, but you definitely DO NOT want the stock Conti tires. They are the worst. You might check w/ The Tire Rack. In fact, you should also post your question on their part of this forum. Will probably get more and better replies. FWIW

RE: re selecting wheels for new s

The 20 inch AMGs are the best that I have seen and will never go out of fashion even in 30 years because they suit the W221s lines so perfectly. I would not go with anything else unless I have a sporty but not extravagant exhaust at the back. Really fantastic the 20s are. Believe it or not I thought they were 19s at first and I actually had to look and read the numbers off the tire. The rear profile was 35 and I must admit the ride felt a little hard on the speed bumps. However Im not sure if its just the wheels or is the suspension AMG. I will find out when I see my Uncle next (the 600 is in Surrey). I have posted pics on this board of the car that may give you an idea of what your car could look like. Ive attached one here too.
I am very excited for you. I loooove the W221 so much. I never felt this way about the W220. Even the S65 W220 couldn't get it up. Talking about my heightened emotion, naturally.
Good luck and congratulations on such a fine car [8D]

Hey Jayhawk...I have the Conti Sport 2 19" staggered on my S550 AMG rims and they are fine so far. Quiet riding, no flat spots after sitting and generally a nice riding tire. That may change but right now..no problem[:)]

Those are Max Performance Summer tires, not the poorly rated All Season 18" Conti's that come on the the base S-class. They should be as good as the Michelin PS2s or other Max Performance Summer tires. You will not get a lot of miles out of these type tires, but they should preform and ride very well.

Enjoy!
