I had the opportunity to test drive a S550 demo a week or so ago. I have to say, it is by far the nicest car I have ever driven.
About the only negative thing that I can say, is that the side mirrors are very small, and made me feel like I have a large blind spot.
The backup camera is great - adding the predicted path is way cool, and makes it much more useful than just another me-too wide angle rear camera.
Having the speedo as a graphics display instead of a "real" instrument adds some great functionality to it, e.g. if you select cruise control, you get an arrow right on the speedo that shows you your selected speed. The display is absolutely unbelievable - the most crisp display I have ever seen.
The ride is extremely quiet, the car has absolutely no regard for tarmac quality, dispensing with seams, patches, etc with disdain. The power is great for such a big car. As a matter of fact, I was taken by complete surprise when I floored it at an intersection!
The control system is very intuitive, and I was able to figure out everything that I wanted to do with minmum fuss, and without resorting any manual.
All in all, if anyone has any complaints about how it looks, just go drive it!
Lucky for me I was able to drive it BEFORE they even announced the prices on it! I agree, it a great drive. I really like the location of the telephone buttons, as well as the radio volume controls. When I drive my neighbors 745Li, it is hard to look down to hit the numbers on the pad.I am planning on converting a friend of mine from BMW to M-B. [:D]

Hope your friend, if he converts to MB from BMW, doesnt have his drivers seat lock down, on a Sunday, when he plans a long safari...see 'first problem' subject this forum..

Not BS, just the simple reason why Ill stick to my 89 300E 4matic and not get embroiled in an electronic-computor-glitch-nightmare with new S or other (BMW 3X) cars. see my response to 'first problem' on this forum.
