The "adapter" is a cradle similar to those already in use but this time for Bluetooth.
There is already a picture of it and you just install it as you would the usual cradles. Then it should work with any Bluetooth phone. Wait and see.
I do not have a part numer yet but will post it when
I find out.
The car actually recognizes the Bluetooth phone and up to a number of devices as it is but I really find no use AT ALL for the feature that the car comes with. You need the cradle for full phone integration.
I have a W221 S500 European Long Version. The car has bluetooth and recognizes my Nokia 6230i, however it is only for some kind of transfer that is completelly useless for phone conversation.
The manual clearly says that it does NOT work for phone conversation.
The car came with option 386 (prepared for phone) where I would have to purchase the Bluetooth Adapter that it is still not available.

My manual says that you can synchronize your "Mobiltelefon" with the car through COMAND. And it does not say that you cannot use your phone by this way.
There is also nothing about an adapter in the manual.
I have to say that I have read the Bluetooth section of the manual about this issue and it really does not say that you need an adapter to use your phone.
Hi, which section are you referring to? The one in the attached figure claims that the operation with mobile phones is limited to sending/receiving vcards, as far as I've understood it correctly. This aligns with the view of a previous post.
I guess the PDA is equally limited to vcards (looks like the manual does not assume any phone capabilities from a PDA). And the handset/headset allows you to have privacy for car audio (does it make any sense for other than Navi audio perhaps?)??? Unless you have a phone installation, then BT audio from the phone, through Comand, should be possible?
The ones who have the car, and a BT capable phone, can try and confirm the above to be right, or wrong.
hi- where did you find this instruction manual forbluetooth ?is it applicable to the new S550S class? ifso,it seemsto say that any bluetooth phone will be fully compatible with the bluetooth in the new S class and that you don't need to buy anything . Is this correct ?Is this manual on line somewhere ? Thanks
As I said before, no communication with your phone unless you order option 386 or 388 and install the corresponding cradle. Same as any other MB with that option.
I drive this car everyday and have not been able to make it work, if Cy has instructions, please tell me so I can test them for you. I already paired my phone with the car but then, no communication.

Nothing to add on BT but the online manuals can be found from most (if not all) European MB web sites like:
http://www.mercedes-benz.de/content/germany/mpc/mpc_germany_website/de/home_mpc/passenger_cars/home/services/interactive_manuals.0002.html
In English too.
I've understood that owner's manuals are available for download from www.mbusa.com but you need to register first. I was not able to register myself, they did not accept my VIN (perhaps only US-cars accepted).
Would be nice if somebody could download one and make it available (as appropriate, perhaps private email), the US manuals are not that different from the European ones that it would make those useless for us.
