S65 AMG or Bentley Flying Spur

I've now made two visits to the Bentley dealer, driving both the Continental GT and Flying Spur. The Flying Spur is a lot more car than the Continental GT and very much in line with what I'd consider purchasing. I love the AWD for traction and the W-12 engine is very smooth and powerful. I did notice a few things that I'd like to have that are missing, however.

First of all, the back seating area is rather plain, with no tray tables for the passengers. The Bentely dealer could also not tell me how or if updates might be obtained for the nav. system. There is also no "Distronic-type" of cruise control and some of the other newer features of the new MB S series are not available, such as the nighttime vision or backup camera.

The GT I drove didn't even offer keyless go, but the Flying Spur at least offered that.

What I can say for the Bentley is that it really felt solid and secure to drive.

Now, I've decided to wait to purchase until I've had some quality time with the new S model. I understand that an S65 AMG is in the works, and would appreciate any insight into when it might be available here in the US, and what the price will probably be. As with other vehicles, I prefer getting all reasonable options, except for "Designio-type" of upgrades.

Yea, technically the W221 is a superior car, but damn the Flying Spur is one good looking car. Love the dash and actually the whole interior. Its tough, the same way that one chooses a Jaguar over a Mercedes or BMW.

idk. in my opinion, the continental gt flying spur is really just a long continental, and i dont think the ride quality would be very good, becuz it was built off of a sports car, not a luxury car.

I would go for the Bentley if its the W220 S class you are thinking of but if it is the W221 then go for the Mercedes.

I think the W221 S-Class is simply beautiful and i agree with 1996_S500? on this one. If you want superior class though, go for the bentley.

RE: S65 AMG or Bentley Flying Spur

The new S-Class is a way advanced car in comparison to Bentleys. But Bentley is more unique.

If you want asthetic and advanced technology W221 is the better choice. And if we think about an S65 AMG it is certainly unique, too.

RE: S65 AMG or Bentley Flying Spur

Isn't the Flying Spur the fastest sedan in terms of top speed? Or does the W221 top that?

well, supposedly, the flying spur has a top speed of 195, but the S65 is electronically limited to 155.
