Anyone have more info on this '550' engine?
What's it all about? I know the 500 was updated to produce 380horses. How much does this one put out? Is it an entirely new engine?
Yes it is entirely new. 5461cc V8 388HP 530NM torque between 2800-4800 rpm (about 390lbft). It is a new generation four-valve M273 engine. Has much more power than the old 500 M113 but the consumption is at the same level.

what are you talking about. The pics taken at my dealer are very good. And the first pics were bad, only becuz the guy was leaving, it was in Germany at night, if i put the flash on, the German guy inside would have slapped me in the face, and it was the first w221 i saw in real life. So actually, an S500 doesn't exist anymore in this new one? Or could it be that in europe it is still called S500? I saw one which said 500 on the bootlid.
Yes, despite new engine with 5.5 Liters the traditional name "S500" is kept going outside the USA. I think this is a nice idea but unfortunately your country is excepted.

But it's really cool how the speedometer is totally digital isn't it? What I don't get is, haven't you seen pics of the Night Vision Assist? I mean, if you have, I don't understand how you could've mistaken it for an analog one.
Yup, It wasn't until a bit afterwards that I put 2 and 2 together and realized it = me = idiot
But yeah it's damn cool!
