Still to come back on flagship and its definition: meaning the best product that is made by a company (regardless of size, numbers of doors, toplessness, prize and how many they sell) I still think it is the CL (just check how the doors open (out and then forward) and close (ok other Merc's have it as well)
We could keep on discussing but at the end they're in same class, the weren't called SEC for nothing, it was the two doors version of the S and in my mind a coupe is always the better/nicer version of the fourdoor saloon, unfortunately nowadays the CLK isn't derived from the E-class anymore as the beautiful CE coupes of the eigthies.
Great video! But the CL65 is not the flagship MB car.
I agree. The S is the flagship. The CL is just the sport-luxury car for Mercedes-Benz.

I agree with you on your comments on the CL and SEC. In the past, the SEC/S-class coupes have always been the flagship of the M-B range, followed by the S-class sedans.

I think CLK is derived from E-Class. Look at that rear design, interior and dashboard. It's all E-Class.
The CLK is based on the C-class platform.

About the issue of CLK I will say don't get confused because of its name. It has nothing to do with the C-Class. Just think about why CLK is always introduced after the E-Class. And remember W208... Do you think it is a C-Class??
