Every S-class since the w108 has worn a 280 badge. Is there going to be a w221 S280 SWB? Or is the S350 SWB going to take over as the entry level model. I hope they don't break tradition and continue the 280s sometime during the model line.
From what I know the S350 SWB will be available in the U.S. to take the place of the current w220 S350 SWB. I know if they ever do come out with an S280 SWB it will only be available for the Euro market like it has since the w126 era.

RE: Will the 280 return in a w221?
oh ok.
What's the deal with the S500? They have it in Europe, and they also have the S550. Are we getting the S500 or are we only getting the S450 and S550?
MB changed the name from S500 to S550 at the last minute, who knows why?? I guess it is another case of "my engine is bigger than yours..." and my engine has more horsepower than yours thing.

no, it is because the engine now has 5.5 liters rather than 5.0, but i still don't know if they are going to sell an s500 in America. But they have an S500, which they sell, in Europe.
