I have a question regarding the interior trim of the 2007 S-Class. I noticed that the interior of the S500 belonging to the gentleman from Dubai featured a full leather interior--stitching on the doors, glovebox, etc. However, the pictures of the S500 from the latest road test, as well as the pictures featured in MBUSA's new brochure show interiors lacking this detail. Does anybody know if this is part of an option package? I have contacted my dealer, and as usual, they seem to be the last to know anything. If anybody has any information, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I actually visited the dealership today to confirm my order. The order is being placed for the January production as I wanted to take advantage of Mercedes' new packaging scheme. I ordered P02 which includes #220 Parktronic, #401 Front Active Ventilated Seats, #881 Electronic Trunk Closure, and #889 Keyless Go. I also ordered the wood/leather steering wheel #289, however that was the only option I was informed of in terms of the interior. Perhpas the upgraded leather is only available outside the US, or it is simply a standard feature. Unfortunately, my sales person could not tell me more. Thank you for the heads up, I will call him in the morning and see if that style number rings a bell.

Mrmbenz,
I know what you mean. The feel of the hand-stiched leather is just so good. Even if you are not the kind of person who will appreciate it, it is just so great to have, because it gives you that feeling of having somrthing "extra".
I had handstiched leather in a w140 S600 a while back, and now I am trying to get hold of one once more.

Update: I found out when I went back to the dealer to show the car to my girlfriend that the dash is covered in faux leather, not the real thing. (I guess it's like the "leatherette" in 3-series BMWs.) In any case it still looks WAY better than the cheap hard plastic on the W220.

RE: 2007 S-Class Interior Question
yea, leaterette is a cheaper alternative to leather as well. I was looking to buy a VW passat a while back, and i saw the leather/ leatherette option, and it was very confusing. I later found out that VW's are not that reliable tho...

That's one thing I like about the CLS, its got stiched leather everywhere. Is the headliner suede on the W221?
well, not everywhere. Just on some of the dash and center console right? I'm not positive. But in the past, only the S 600's had the hand-stiched leather, but in the 221, even the 550 has hand-stiched leather. I don't think that the headliner is suede on the 550's and other models. I think that has always been a 600 feature. Dating back to the w140.
