Good questiom, maybe Germany seeing as they already have plants there for S-Class. If it's going to be US then they're screwed. Even though it doesn't matter where it's built, the quality will be the same, but people would rather buy a German car built in Germany. IMHO

The W221 S-Class is built in Sindelfingen, Germany. The M-Class and R-Class vehicles are assembled in Vance, Alabama, from parts originating primarily in Germany, Mexico, and the United States.

I thought the M-Class was built in Tuscaloosa. That what it says on the door sticker on my ML. Or is Tuscaloosa the county?

Tuscaloosa is both a city and a county. Tuscaloosa, Alabama is the county seat of Tuscaloosa County. Vance, meanwhile, is a small community just to the east of Tuscaloosa, and that is where the MBUSI facility resides.

I didn't know they were built in Alabama at the time. I don't care if they are built by them or not. The quality is the same.

US originated and Germany originated models of Merc have never been at the same quality level..
