I was just wondering why the production of W140 is the least among it's ancesstors?Even the newer W220 production is higher.
To be honest, the shape of the W140 is the best looking ever.

Thats just your opinion. The W126 was the best, and the numbers show it. [:D]

RE: 5 generation of S class

sorry if a little off topic, but will future mb models follow the design "cue" of the new W221 S classe? I mostly mean the fenders (is that what they are in english? the part above the wheel), since this is the thing that MB will have to change dramatically on all other cars.

Also, if this is a indication of MB's future styling, why release the R-class with not as prominent fenders as the S?

RE: 5 generation of S class

The Second Generation S-class was the best, IMHO. And the S-class is the flagship sedan. If you look at the new W164 and X164, you can see the fender flares making their appearance. The same thing (although very subtle) is present with the new SLK and CLS.

RE: 5 generation of S class

It's ugly, and it's trying to pretend to be something it isn't. The first S-Class cars were the real S-Class cars. And the W126 shared the same chassis as the W116 with different skinning.

Also the W116/126 were ridiculously rigid in accidents. Obviously good and bad. The W126 was not even going to be considered at a point, and the W126 was created to extend the W116's reign. They're sister cars derived from the legendary C111.

I'd consider the W126 an upgraded version of a W116.

Question....Why is there a fake speedometer display with infrared camera technology? Absolutely pointless. I have no idea WHY anyone needs infrared technology, and I CERTAINLY wouldn't be taking my eyes off the road to trust a computer rather than my own eyes. THAT IS SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS AND UNNECESSARY!!!
