It definitely isn't a W140, but that probably wasn't their intention. DaimlerChrysler appears to believe that we should all purchase a Maybach. [:P]

I'll have to see it in person, but the pictures certainly didn't astonish me. Bruno Sacco, where are you?

Yeah, it definatly is not a W140, but it looks to be more solid than the current S-Class. I too would have to see it in person and drive it before making a final decision. The Lexus LS430 in my opinion is very ugly, but I would buy one in a heart beat because of the reliablility, comfort, and features. Chances are this new S-Class will be too expensive, cheaply made, and will not be reliable. As for now, just by looking at the pictures, I would not purchase one!

Not quite as bad as the BMW 7's when they were redone but definitely has that "bar of soap" look to it. With the retro success of some carmakers one would think that they would be smart enough to lift some design elements from the best of the past and combine with engineering improvements. Oh well, each iteration seems to be a do-over these days.

Love my W140, with each new iteration I have more reasons to keep fixing it!

Well, I can't vote on it because I don't absolutely hate or love it. The exterior is strongest feature about this car- in my opinion. The interior, from the single photo posted looks alarmingly like my Honda mini-van below the wood trim. In other words- too much plastic. As far as quality goes, I would bet that it's much better given the FACT that this is MB's last chance at maintaining a certain prestige factor over it's competitors.

I agree with that although I think the dash/centre console look very much like the BMW interior. The Headlights and wheelarchs look very Ford Focus/VW Passat to me.

MB copying not leading the way, disappointing at least. I'll stick with the old school Merc thanks very much.

do you have anything in between i dont love it nor hate it. i do prefer the new s class over any other new luxury sedens out there, cause of the status of driving a mercedes. its a smaller car than our w140, if talking about making an entrance i still do believe our w140 is still the winner.

RE: New S-Class - Butt ugh-ugh-ughly

I was disappointed when I saw it. But, as far as the poll choices go, the choices are WAAY to sever either way. Plus, I know there have been MANY cars I saw the press photo's and screamed bloody murder, until one rolled up on me on the highway[:0]. So, I'm in with the "wait until I see it", crowd.
