Since the security flaw in the yr 2000 S-classes was discovered a while back (6-8 months ago), I took my S-500 in for the "updated" key and system (called an EIS). The dealer installed it all under warranty and provided me with 2 new keys, which I was very happy about.
Since I'm the only driver, I never used the second key, up until I was having my car washed and gave the 2nd key to have my car moved. When they tried to move the car; they were unable to. Of course I didn't believe them so I went to investigate myself and found that it was true. The 2nd key could START the car but would NOT allow you to put the gear into drive OR any other gear. So, I put my 1st key in and it worked perfectly. So, I began testing the 1st key for the functionality and found that the "Panic Alarm" feature wasnt working, neither was the "Window Rolldown".
I complained to the dealer and took it in over a week ago. They told me the software on the key was corrupt so they were ordering a new key and EIS system for my S-500. Once it arrived; they programmed it. When they went to test the keys; BOTH keys now didn't allow you to shift gears. So, now THESE keys are also corrupt and am waiting for NEWER parts to arrive.
My car hasn't been able to move for the last week from their garage due to this new key issue. They even tried reverting to my original keys; that also failed. My dealer even contacted MB corporate for help and they didn't have any info. on such an issue; or have they heard of anything like my problem.
Has anyone experienced this problem? Does anyone have any recommendations on what to do next? I really want my car back!
