I have been told that if you order Distronic as<br>
an option (2002 S500)<br>
there is no 'regular' cruise control.<br>

Is this true?<br>

True
Yes, this is true. But the Distronic works like a regular cruise control until you come within your set range of another vehicle. In a few years, all cars will be using distronic I believe.
