Tires, Continental or Michelin

Hi, I own a 2000 S430. My car came with Continental ContiTouring Tires. My business partner who has an S500 has Michelin MXV4 Energy tires on his. What's the standard tire on these cars? I'd rather have the Michelin's on my car.

RE: Tires, Continental or Michelin

My 2000 S500 came with the Michelin MXV4 Energy tires originally. Had Continental Touring tires when I bought it. Didn't like those at all. Just replaced them with the OEM MXV4s - huge improvement, in my book.

replace them with the conti preimier contacts I paid $110.00 a piece for them, they are greatly supierior to both the oem contis or the michelins. they are very quiet and strong, tread wear rating of 600. you can research these tires on the tire rack site. good luck.

RE: Tires, Continental or Michelin

I replaced the OEM tires on my BMW 740iL and my MB s430 with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+Sport+ A%2FS

In my opinion these Michelin's are HANDS DOWN... the best tires I've ever had on my cars.

Thanks,

Dino

Definitely Michelin. I would not go for Conti whether as replacement or upgrade despite its' price. The other brand I like is Bridgestone. On the W220 S320 I previously owned I put on 18" Bridgestone S-03 with AMG wheel and it handles great ![:)]

Yes I agree the bridgestones are the best, I had a pair on a 01 E430 I had they were great, but they were also z rated and wore out soon and cost like double the amount of the contis, but for luxury car applications and driving speeds under 100 mph I think the conti priemeirs are better suited. when I get my new sl or cl 55 they will definitly have the SO3 bridgestones.

RE: Tires, Continental or Michelin

My last set of Michelins:

- two tires had tread separation
- one tire developed a stress tear in the sidewall

This despite the fact that I'm meticulous about maintenance and check my tire pressure weekly. That's why it was my LAST set of Michelins! Been very happy with Conti now... no problems.
