I understand that the new S-Class built in phone is a motorola timeport especially made for the MB and that the choice is TDMA or CDMA, not GSM (eg Pac Bell and Voicestream will not work). I called MBUSA to find out if a similarly equipped S-Class in Europe had the GSM version of the same phone and if so could I use it in the car here...Nope, they said, but I am leery that they did not understand my question. Does anyone in Europe have the answer? I am talking about the MB voice recognition built-in system...Thanks.
same with Asia where GSM seems to be the standard on all wireless services. I believe they're equipped with nokia phones. Not sure if those will work with ours though.
I was in an MBCA meet last week and one of the CL owners had a kit sent to him from Germany. It replaces the stock wires and a small module. He now uses a Nokia 56??
