Good job iSteve. Out of curiosity, did you retain the old belt to identify cause of separation, i.e. worn, cut or other cause? For some odd reason, I always like to attempt to identify why something happens.
I have had two belts do that. All idlers and pulleys are fine and perfectly aligned, bearings are smooth and free, no problem with any of the driven units - no perceivable cause at all. The belts just turn into strings...
That sounds as though Belt Tension maybe too much, or either poor belts? Something has to cause those belts to give out. Unless however, you added another 300 hp and turning around 9k on your shift points wallyp!:eek
The tensioner has a bit more pressure than my previous M119, which also threw a belt on a 4k road trip, that belt started splitting and flapped around cutting through the small bleeder hose on the top of the engine
The coolant reservoir light came on. And I had to trim the belt back, trim the hose and refit and refill the coolant then drive for an hour back the way I came to get a replacement.
Over the past few weeks There was some little black spots and residue on the engine bay either side of the belt previously, I should have twigged and changed the belt
