Rear Fog Lamp and License plate, Left

I recently bought a w220 2004. The malfunction for rear fog lamp and License Plate Lamp, L came on. I replaced the bulbs and checked for corrosion. After reinstall of all, the malfunction still appears. Tried to switch the components from right side (that work) to the left, still no love. Further checked for possible wiring and fuse problems.... Fuses are good but found a wire with one blue and one white connector (both black wires) not connected on the left side of trunk when I removed the trunk paneling. Are these lamps connected somehow? Can Anyone help with this issue?

Welcome to the forum!

There is a photo of the wiring for the tail lights at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220-s-class/1610969-diy-led-tail-light.html - the first photo (click on it to enlarge). Although the post discusses a different problem and fix from yours, you can check to see if the wires you describe match up with those in the photo.

I do not believe the wires you describe are for the tail light. As for what they might be (if they are original equipment), go to the phone bulletin for your model year as shown in the pdf file at the bottom of the first post at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/aud...g/forums/audio-telematics-forum/1313173-how-guide-cell-phone-upgrades-plug.html - the phone bulletin shows most of the wiring in the original equipment bay. You may be able to find what they went to. Other than that. photos of your wires and connectors would help.

BTW - you have only one rear fog lamp, on the driver's side. Here is a diagram - note the verbal description difference concerning the fog light - if you swapped the fog lamp connector left to right, you would not find the problem. It is not the same as the non-fog lamp connector.

When I got my 430 in Feb, it had intermittent license plate alerts. I took them out and cleaned up the metal ends of the bulbs with fine sandpaper and squeezed the bulb holders together to tighten them up. Haven't had a warning on them again.
Maybe the rear fog lamp contact is slightly corroded as well?

Rather than sand off anything, a little non drying switch cleaner will solve it all, the problem now is that you have been taking others out. 99% are just a poor connection.
