I want to replace the fluid in my power steering system.
Is there a way of doing the whole system at once, disconnect a pipe?
Or is the drain the drain the reservoir and fill it several times over a month better?
not sure how it works on the ABC cars, but what i've done:
use pump/turkey baster to suck fluid from reservoir
disconnect return line
disconnect cps
place return line into bottle or container
crank car over a few times
OK thanks, just worried because WIS mentions getting air into the system while topping up, and does not seem to have a section on draining and replacing the fluid.
to avoid issues, the safest way is to suck the fluid from the reservoir, refill, and repeat enough times so that you've essentially dilluted sufficiently.
Thats what I have started on doing today.
It is groaning on the right hand lock, but only if the car is stood still or moving slowly, and there is a bit of notchyness again when turning the wheel to the right.
I just want to exclude the fluid before moving on to mechanical parts, and it does seem to have made it a little better even on the first go.
