Hi Guys,
I really appreciate the help that this Forum provides so took the trouble to document how I fixed the interior door handle illumination modules in my 2003 Update W220 S500. Being a retired electronics engineer made this an easy task and my results may help others, especially the part where I increased the safety margin for the LED power level. I suspect that the OEM LEDs are slightly over run and this causes them to fail. It seems a common problem.
BTW I didn't even know I had interior door handle illumination until I stumbled on a post in this Forum.
Thanks again,
Brian

Great Post !! I actually thought about going for a different color led but at the end decided to stay with the OEM. I started the project thinking all I had to do is remove the dcm but then had to go through the same exact steps as you did exept the silicon part since mine clipped in place very securely. Unfortunately, still have to do the rears :(

Hey everyone, sorry to bring back an old post but just wanted to give an update. My drivers door it's flicking again. In few words the oem only lasted four years since it's replacement. So I said let me call the dealer and get a price on it. Guess what, price quadrupled since last time I changed it. Now they are asking over a hundred dollars for one lol... It is only an led bulb wonder if it was made with gold flakes :(
