Airmatic Relay

My S500 has covered 51000 miles.

The car does not have any suspension problems at the moment but is it advisable to replace the Airmatic relay as a service item? will this help prevent future Airmatic breakdowns or is this just throwing money at a problem that does not exist?

Replacement is recommended if it doesn't say Hella on it.

For the low cost of the relay I concur that an annual (or even a recurring 18 month replacement schedule) is a good thing to cover in order to avoid a pump "burn-out" issue.

Well as Grandpappy use to say "an ounce of prevention, is worth a pound of cure".

So in this case an $18 relay replaced say ever 12 months, is better than a $300 pump burning up....

I have read many threads regarding relays specially for armatic system which most of benzworld members are using Hella. I looked under my hood and found only black relays on both sides. So i suspect that these are the original one not updated so i will contact my stealership to have the MB tech take a look.

Thanks,

Eddie
