Exclamation Car is absolutely all over the road.

My 2000 S500 is absolutely all over the road. I have 186k on it. It is becoming a huge issue. I am constantly correcting for the sway. My front sway bushings are out (I believe) because I get the clunk noise over bumps. Is that was is causing my car to drive so poorly? Between this and the transmission mount going and now the car dying I am " " close to getting rid of it. Can someone help me out?

Sounds like control arm, thrust arm bushings have had it with their useful life on your car with 186K miles. Time to have your mechanic take a look and replace them. An independent mechanic will probably do it at half the cost of an MB dealer for these items.

Also, check for anything unusual on the tires, i.e warped, lug nut missing, just in case.

Good luck !

If your car is all over the road that means your tie rods are gone. There are inner & outer tie rods. Hope your steering rack is OK. Your upper and lower ball joints needs to be replace too. How is your airmatic system ? Replacing all the things will cost as much as 2 thousands even you DIY.

My airmatic is fine.

Ball joints plus tool are $150
LCA's are $210
Tie rod kit (inner and outer) is $110
Sway bar end links are $80

So thats $550. Which is doable and I knew when I bought the car (for $6,000) that it was going to need a couple thousand in work. What I am asking is are the link provided and the parts listed the correct parts to fix the problem?

Never buy parts from ebay. That is big "IF". Go to AutohausAZ.com. very dependable and reliable parts from OEM or similar german supplier. ebay will sell you china replica parts. Tools can be buy from ebay to save few $.

Noted. It appears that AutohausAZ.com is actually only a tiny bit more expensive then ebay anyway.

So I will need:

Tie Rod Pair
Pair of LCA's
Lower ball joints
Sway bar bushing end links

Is that it? Thanks for your help.

Also the lower control arms come with ball joints does that mean I don't need to buy lower ball joints? Or are they 2 separate ball joints? I'm confused if you couldn't tell.

Thrust arm comes with ball joint & bushing. $125 ea. Control arm only come with the joint attach the strut, sway bar link. The lower ball joint HD series will be $46. Tie rod comes with ball joint. Looks like you are missing the Thrust arm on your list. Post your DIY results later.

So let me get this straight; I need a:

Pair of Thrust arms with Balljoint and Bushing $250
2 Lower Ball joints (HD) $92
Tie rod set w/ whatever it comes with.
Sway bar links
AND the LCA's @ $250 for the set?

Will I be good for another 75-100 thousand miles after all this stuff?

Lower ball joint should be good for 75-100K miles. That will definitely get you start. But there are also upper control arm and double wishbone that attached to the front wheel axle. I can not guess what you have to replace. You should get the dealer to tell you exactly what you need at this point. It is not wise to replace all the front end components. You may have a bad rack & pinion steering system, even replace the inner & outer tie rod end may not help.
