The parking brake release handle on my 2003 S600 is loose and won't catch. I have included a picture for reference. I have no idea what happened. Should I take it to the dealer or what? Thanks in advance!!!
Most likely the spring attachment broke or worst case scenario the parking brake cable has snapped. You should fix it asap. Just ensure your parking brake is not in lock position as driving with it locked will damage your rotors and the drum brakes that will need replacing.

I have the exact same problem on my 2003 S500. The dealership told me that the cable on mine is broken and that the replacement is all one part with the foot pedal....$300+

If the nipple has pulled off you may even be able to re-solder another one on.
