It's under the hood, passenger side, near the windshield, in a covered compartment with several other computer modules, fuses, and relays.

There should be two connectors attached to the top of the module. The module should have a label on its side listing the part number (e.g. A022 545 50 32 SIEMENS).

I replaced my TCM with the exact same part number and my CEL went away and car was no longer in limp mode. I didn't have to reset nothing.

However, I had obtained a used TCM (not a new one) from a same model year vehicle. I believe if you replace your TCM with a new module then yes it has to be programmed by the dealer in order for the module to adapt to your car.

hi all ,
my TCM got water damaged and my independent mechanic told me that i need to replace it. he said that he can get the part already programed and we would just need to plug it in. the only issue is that is costs 1300 dollars.
a used one on ebay runs around 250. my question is if i buy it from ebay with the same part number do i need to program it or am i good to go ?
thank you
