Opening glove box w/coat hanger

I know there are numerous threads on the dreaded glove box that won't open issue. Just wanted to state that a metal coat hanger bent to the appropriate angle will work as your 'self-made tool' as stated in the following 'Tech Service Bulletin'.

It took me 1.5 - 2 hours of fishing through the side of the dashboard last night to open it. I was about to lose my temper & rip the car apart  but then I decided to give it one last shot & I finally got it open :D . Now to fix the cable/latch permanently.

If you try this method to open the glove box just be patient. The most difficult thing is to get the hook into the right spot. Especially when you can't hardly see what you're doing from the side of the dash & aren't quite sure where to place the hook. The pics in the service bulletin really were not much help because of the difficulty seeing the latch mechanism.

Oneslackr, believe me it won't take more than 30 min to open the glove box from the side of the dashboard as I did today. In fact I had a led light inserted through one of the hole to figure out where i'm placing my hook.
I have attached a top view of the glove box showing the compartment lock where the arrow is pointed towards it.

You only have to slide it up and the glove box is open.

Hope this helps clearly!
