How do I determine my COMAND CD Version?

Hi Guys...

Just bought my first W220 (02 S500) and of course, na manuals, no Nav CD, no nada. Fortunately I have owned several MBZ cars, and I am pretty familiar (you should have seen my CL500 that I just sold...it was amazing).

Anyway, I need to purchase a NAV CD, and I don't know which version to be on the lookout for. Is there a way I can determine that through the VIN, or?

Help?

You have a COMAND 2.0, with a "D" nav system. The latest disc set for this car is release 2/09 and part number BQ 646 0248; you can get the entire set from your dealer - or perhaps you can snag a single CD for your area from elnuks at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220-s-class/1436191-00-03-latest-navteq-navigation-cds.html.

However, the full CD set will let you drive across the entire country on just one disc, as long as you stay on or within a mile or so of an Interstate highway; the whole U.S, interstate system is on each disc, so you just inset the final destination disc, drive to the nearest interstate, and you're off!

You can also download an electronic COMAND manual from http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsite/comand_manual.htm; unfortunately, you'll have to purchase the owner's manual (which you should) - see the MBUSA site, or ebay.
