hello, i have a 2002 s320 automatic with esp, but the problem is that if if I accelerate the car, the ESP acts. ok...but if I put the handle in position n and I take to a fast curve the ESP does not act, even with the handle in position d, if I take a curve without accelerating the ESP does not act
if I do reset to the Ecu, and recalibrate the ESP, be corrected will the problem?
i put the car in N whilst cornering to test the esp...
the light of the ESP only ignites when I accelerate too fast...
when it rains, if I take to a fast curve the ESP acts if I accelerate, if I do not accelerate does not act..
I have taken the car to an official technical service of Mercedes. and there is no failure, the ESP does not report failure in the machine.
Then the ESP is acting normally in my opinion. The ESP uses both accelleration sensors (2 of them under the hood very close to the strut mounts) and a lateral accelleration sensor close to the centre of the car.
If you put the car in neutral whilst cornering there is no acceleration so the front two sensors will not react.
If you do not accellerate into a bend (and this is why ESP exists) then it will not work.
The system is designed on the basis that most people remain in drive at all times and when approaching a bend slow down first and then accellerate into the bend, therefore having full control of the car throuout the cornering process.
We repair Audi/BMW/Benz and I know all three systems are different. On BMW it's called ADS adaptive damping system. Different cars different designs and different thinking. The system on your Benz appears to be working within the parameters that it was designed for.
the problem that I see is that if you enter a very fast curve, and raise the foot of the accelerator, the ESP does not act and that I believe that it is a problem
