i have a 2000 s500 and i have a problem with the airmatic. the valve block above the pump doesnt seem to open to pump the shocks, i have a dis multiplexer and i activated the pump manually and it works fine the problem is that the valve block above the bump doesnt seem to be opening to let the air through to the shocks, anyone here an airmatic expert would have any advice. im getting it towed to a mercedes specialist(independent shhop) just would like to hear some feedback from anyone who might know what the problem it. i also had a spare valve block laying around my garage i tried installing it but same problem( i dont know is that one was functional before either) any help will be greatly appreciated

It's not an unusual problem in the '00-'02 W220s. Because you ran the pump and still saw no pressurization of the struts, you are probably correct.

While you're at it, have your Airmatic relay checked - if it's Hella, you're probably OK. If not, have it replaced with a Hella relay. The relay isn't the source of the particular problem you describe, but will prevent another frequent Airmatic problem - failure of the relay, either causing the pump not to run - or worse, causing it to run excessively, burning it out.

yea i replaced the relay already just recently so thats all set. thank you for the feedback i guess ill just have to bring it to the shop and see what they can tell me

ekbenz, i know it has been awhile but can you please tell me what the dealer did to fix your valve block problem? what was the repair and what did it cost you?
