Do "Starmarked" Used M-B Warrantys transfer to different owners? Please help! - Benzworld.org

I'm looking at a car that was Starmarked about 3 years ago and has about 2 more years and 50K Miles left on its Warranty. It was sold by the guy who got it with the Warranty and now is at a Used Car Dealership (Independant). The owner said the Warrantys stay with the car and he took the car to Penske M-B for an oil-leak of some sort, and they fixed it for free.

I was wondering if anyone here knew the answer?? Thanks!!

The answer is yes, it does stay with the car if it is a starmark warranty.

Apparently there's a bit more to it than that - it may transfer in an owner-to-owner sale, but if it goes back to a dealer, the warranty may not transfer, according to a contributor who responded on another forum. Ugh, I looked at the car today and it's SUCH a fine line....Technically, according to knowledged service advicers and MBUSA, it gets voided once it goes to a private lot. Buut, some advisers said, "just go and keep your mouth shut and it'll probably get taken car of". I don't know if there's a database that shows "Void" per-se, it really depends on who you take it to. For example, the lot that took this car in question for an oil leak (seal), got it taken car of for no charge. Also, the car has the Warranty Booklet WITH Transfer slip and the ex-owners information....sooo....I dunno what to do, it's like rolling dice buying this car and finding out whether it's Warranty'd or not once the big day comes.
