OK. So its the DCM. Should have researched better. But can i fix this myself? Where is it. Should I check the fuse or disconnect the battery as some have suggested?

 

The door control module costs about 900 dollars from the dealer it is an easy fix you just have to plug it in. You can find used ones on ebay for around 150 or so but you need a new one no fuse for this it usually happens when water gets into the car it happened to me I replaced it myself bought on ebay.

 

Yes, as stated above...also make sure you check with the dealer what part #'s work with your car!

I have an S500 2000 and all the lights in the buttons front passenger door is out, could that also be the Door Control Module?

All electronics such as the heating, window and the mirror is working ok though.

 

i had the same problem, unfortunatly the only way to go is to replace it, but the reason my failed is because the drains that run from the roof down the front a pillar were clogged and that somehow water damaged it, so i would reccomend cleaning those out, just a precaution before you find out it stops working again, just my $.02

 

Seems like I have the very same problem. I guess Im gonna have to find a DCM now. Any suggestions where they sell used ones? I tried looking for it on ebay but couldnt find it.

yea thats the part, a really good parts place that should have it is Potomac german auto, they specialize only in mercedes and some bmw's. heres the website Potomac German Auto : Nation's Largest Since 1979 i would suggest giving them a call and they can tell you if they have it or not, they have pretty good shipping rates too

This came off a 2003 S500L driver side door.

 

This just happened to me this morning but on the driver side door, I turned on my car to warm it up and I pressed the seat warmer and nothing turns on, I lean over to passenger door and it worked fine. Then I try to adjust driver seat and nothing then I try the windows and nothing, mirrors also didn’t work. So EVERYTHING on driver door is not working, I cannot control any of the windows from the driver side but they work fine with their corresponding doors. It has been raining a lot these past few days could it be water damage? Also, is there anything I should check before replacing or is that the only solution? Since it is the driver side (with more controls than passenger) is there anything else to replace? Any help will be appreciated, I just got the car a month ago so I don’t know a whole lot about it.

Oh and this is also a 2000 S500

 

so almost everyone is saying that it is the door control module and that it must be replaced. i called the dealer they said it was 560 dollars. So i took my car to my friend (he's a specializes in MB) and told him about the problem and some noise my car was making. He said he'd check it out and he fixed everything in one hr and charged me 40 bucks.

So what im trying to say is that if this happens to anyone else dont jump into buying the DCM right away, have someone else check your car out. I didnt get a chance to ask him how he fixed it but im sure it wasn't too hard since he fixed that and some creaking sound my car was making in one hour.

 

I'm certain the forum would live to know what your friend did to fix it (sounds like it may have gotten wet, and he dried it out - but that's speculation. It works if you haven't already fried it). Could you ask, and post the result?

 

it didnt work for like 2 weeks, if it was just wet wouldnt it had dried by then?

mj23cg69 - not necessarily. Depends on how much water was present. Perhaps you would ask your friend, so we could get a definite idea of the fix he used? He may have something to teach us all, and let us avoid an expensive and unnecessary replacement.

chrisoro - yes, if you haven't fried it by trying to operate it while wet. Considering the cost of a new one, it's probably worth a try.

In case the Door Control Module is still out of order after drying it, is it possible to repair it ?

Last year, my Mercedes dealer changed an electronic module on my other car (it's a SLK 230K from 1998). They gave me the old and defective electronic module (which name was K40). I opened this module just to see how it was inside. And I was very very surprise to see how simple was the printed circuit ! Moreover, there was only a few electronic elements (6 or 7).
Perhaps it's possible to have a test from an electronics engineer and only change the faulty element... What do you think about that ?
Obviously, a Mercedes dealer will never do that, it's too long and not lucrative ! It's better for them to change the whole module.

I finally took my DCM out. Partnumber is: 220 820 02 10.

After calling around a bit I found out a used one would cost
about €75 euro.

Quite a cheap fix if u ask me.

My problem is solved now. I gave the DCM to a friend electronician and in fact a soldered joint was out and he repaired it.

Now my DCM works perfectly.

However 75 euro for a used DCM is not expensive. Where did you find it ? On e-bay ?

 

im having the very same problem but we bought a new dcm and plugged it in and it still doesnt work Please i need help i verified the motor in the window works also does the seat memory module have anything that could be causing my problem. its a 2000 mercedes s430 and nothing works on the passenger side front door no seat no window no memory no automatic door closing. anyone?:surrender:
