Wow! I've never seen such color combination - looks unusual, but I think, I like it!
The color combination is one of two standard "designo" S-class packages that was available starting w/ the 2000 W220. That one is the Espresso Edition, and it added about $20k to the MSRP. Very exclusive...

so just a quick question on the espresso note... MB refers to the paint color as Espresso, my grandmother had always said "chocolate brown", but is this just something the salesman sold to her or is it actually called chocolate brown?

$20k for the seats of different color!
It would take about $5000 to re-upholster seats, armrest and door inserts with leather of any color and type in an independent workshop.
I love the way MB makes money!
designo was a lot more than exclusive and superior leather upholstery. It included a superior paint formulation and two or three exclusive color options not available on the standard S-class, plus a trim package that included many extras such as elm wood trim, wood and leather steering wheel and shift knob, etc., etc...
Well, as I see from pictures that cameraman has provided, the leather is usual for the S-class "Nappa". Wood & leather steering wheel and shifter knob were the options available for any W220. Elm wood trim - well, I have not noticed it from the first glance, but, as you may know, the price for wood in a MB parts catalogue is the same regardless of wood type.
So, if you pay for "Designo" - you pay for expanded choice of colors only.
It is not like I'm trying to say that "Designo" is crap - not at all. After all, if money is not an issue - why not buy a car that would be different to all the others. It is always nice to feel that you own something exclusive.
