I have driver and passenger front windows bubbling (de-lamination).. Dealer quoted me $600 for labor to replace the glass. How hard is it to replace the glass?
small bubbles are developing at the edge of the glass.. I have about 80-100 bubbles on the driver side. Service advisor said the window is de-laminating. Basically glue is failing between the glass. Total BS.. I say.. Mercedes benz S-class with windows glass coming apart.. what a joke.

The Latest is that the dealer offered to replace the window but at my expense on labor. Which comes close to $600.
I decided not to do it. I didnt think I should have to pay to fix the problem that MB should handle. Window should not fail unless impacted... Period..
Customer service rep at the MBUSA call center was rude.. She didnt understand the concept of Non-wear parts. and the word "defective".. Pretty much put it as "It is not meant to last for ever." after the initial warranty period. She will not escalate the issue and told me to call again to speak to a different rep if I'm not happy. Proceed to email my Dealer to try to jeopardize my dealer offer to cover the part.. probably put my name on the blacklist.. Believe me every car company has a black list.. Just excellent service from MBUSA call center.
My Dealer was actually very gracious with covering parts but I just had the worse experience with the MBUSA call center rep.
S-class 60K miles .. 4 years old.. with failing windows. Lovely...
Most likely sell the car when my StarMark warranty runs out.
I have the same problem with my '99 S430. This is affecting all 4 side windows, but the front ones are the worst.
At the moment the delamination can't be seen when the windows are closed as it seems to only have affected around 2-3mm from the top edge of the glass down.
Have reported this to my dealer and am waiting to hear what they decide to do about it.
You guys should both report your glass issues to your insurance company. If they are worth their salt, they will replace the glass at no cost to you. I have had 2 windshields replaced, both times without hesitation and without having to pay a deductible. The insurance companies would much rather replace a window (which they do at a much lower cost) than have to pay a claim after an accident from a window failing. Give them a call, I bet you'll be surprised.
This shot was taken in the dark when it was raining (...so ignore the dots on the face of the glass as these are raindrops and not related to the fault!)
The problem can been seen along the top edge of the window. Due to the current size of the problem this is not yet noticable when the window is closed, but the problem seems to be getting slowly worse.
I assume that the issue is likely to be affecting all edges of the side-window glass (but obviously the others are not as visible). I also wonder if it may be affecting the rear window and front screen....
