2000 S Class Rust

Hi yall...I have a 2000 S 500 with 69k miles...Have some rust developing on the back trunk lid (right below the license plate), around the wheel wells, and on the front drivers side corner panel...Didnt even think that Mercedes would cover it, however, pulled up to a gas station today and the benz next to me had rust on all of the same spots!!!! What are the chances of getting Mercedes to cover this...Has anyone else gone through this? Any tips?
Thanks!!

I've seen many many Ss, and have NEVER seen rust on one of them--anywhere.

Yes that are known problems. MB usually fixes it at no cost.

Cheers, Frank

I have 1 tiny bubble on the passenger door by the front fender. The local Benz dealer told me that it would be covered by what they referred to as the "Campaign"... Can't complain but does anyone know any more about this?

Regards

Mine has some rust in the same spots. Is there any truth to this 'campaign'? I can't imagine that they would fix rust on a 7 yr old car, but I will pursue it if it is a valid deal.

I can't really give you a reliable answer, but according to my MB facility, they will fix it if it's a problem that started under the paint ( not a rock chip or such). My Beemer warranty is MUCH better - 6 years of rust perforation warranty- no questions asked...

Any comments anyone?

Hi demather
We are supossed to have a 30 year anti rust warranty here in the U.K. as long as your last service was done at a Mercedes benz dealership. If I was you I'd go and show them the car and see what they say.

Unhappy

im going to go to the dealer and try this...as soon as my car is out of the shop...i think they should cover it, but the dealer here in Chicago, IL does not have the best reputation...if they dont cover it, I think I will switch over to one of the other luxuries...the girl wants her own benz, but we both might switch! what happened to the quality here?
