I will definitely go into battle with them to prove my point. What I need to know is this, can the owner be accountable for not bringing the car in on time. Well there was a recall, we told you about it, why didn't you come then? For whatever reason I do not know, the previous owner of car may not have known or simply failed to take the car in before I got it.
On another note, does anybody get soapy foam build ups in the trunk well / trunk crack area after a car wash? I first notices when soap started to come out of the trunk area after a wash, I opened the trunk, soap was all over the area where water is supposed to drain. It does not get into the trunk because the rubber seals prevent it, nevertheless is this normal?

First, I don't think there was a "Recall." I believe it was a Campaign, and I think there's a big difference. Second, is there a time-limit on the Recall/Campaign? I don't recall that being the case. As to why the work was never done, I don't see how that should be your concern. The Recall/Campaign problem was and is still a problem--and MB should take responsibility for it!
No, it is not "normal" for our trunks to leak. I suspect that the rubber seals have failed and should be replaced--ASAP!

Today I took off all 4 plastic covers from the bottom of doors. And guess what they were all wet some of them even dripped out. Most of the paint came off with the silicone too. No wonder they are rusting so bad if they are full with water.
Will try to clean and put some rust stop. then will need to sand all the rust and see if I can fix it myself with a touch up paint, if not hmm maybe to the body shot to respray the bottom of the doors.
i have a 2000 s500. i live in indianapolis and purchased it from a dealer in ohio. ive had the car about three years. the rust surfaced about two years after getting the car and when i called about the help of the dealer to repair. they said some dealerships can battle this for you but they will only do this for this for the original 1st owner of the car and that they would get back to me. but i have no major problems so ill just replace and fix it all myself.
