Dilema. 20" Carlsson 2/5 wheels and tyres for only 2.150 €

Hi,
I am looking for advice in order to purchase the right wheels for my 2001 S500.
At first, I was focusing my search on 18" and 19" wheels but I have found a great opportunity and have the chance to purchase a complete set of 4 20" Carlsson 2/5 wheels (standard price: 5.133 €) including new Pirrelli tyres (P ZERO ASSIMETRICO 245-35-20 Y RATED) which are excellent and very expensive too.

I do not know if this "opportunity" can ruin the ride of my car considering that I am going to change the standard 16" wheels with these new 20" monsters.

I had even doubts with 19" wheels so would like to know your opinion.
My other alternatives are:
1) New standard Mercedes difda wheels (18") with 245/25 tyres for 1.100 € (another good opportunity)
2) Used 19" AMG Styling III wheels with used tyres (60%) for 1.000 € approx.

All your comments will be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Jordi

I have had a 420sel with 18s and a 560sec with 19s. Currently I drive an s420 with 20s.

And in my opinion, the ride doesn't change all that much.

I would go with the 20s, but I am sure there are other people here that think that would be a horrible choice!

Good luck![:)]

Thank you very much for all your useful comments!

I think am going to purchase the 20" CARLSSON 2/5 since I always use summer tyres in Barcelona.
My only fear are potholes but I will be careful...

Regards.

I went from OEM 16" to the following setup and am VERY happy. Ride has actually improved and handling--well there's NO comparison!

18x8.5 AMG Double Spoke Bright Sil
18x9 AMG Double Spoke Bright Sil
245/45WR-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 XL
275/40YR-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3

Good looking AMG wheels...
perfect for the s-class!

I like AMG and CARLSSON wheels and prefer them than Lorinser or even Brabus (Brabus has very nice models but also horrible ones).

One last question...

before buying the 20" Carlsson wheels I have found 4 19" AMG Style III wheels at a very good price (slightly used, for only 1000 €)
The only problem is that they include 245/45 R19 tyres and I think this is not a valid syze for w220 cars.
The official size should be 245/40 R19 or 245/24 R18 tyres. Am I right??
Is it acceptable to mount 245/45 R19 tyres?

I'm sorry but I do not know the answer to that question; and I fear you may not get a good answer here in the W220 forum. I suggest that you post it on The Tire Rack forum for Luke. He know tires & wheels better than just about anyone.
