I have a 2003 S500 and found that I can plug my ipod into the aux jack in the glovebox. However, if I put the plug in all the way into the aux jack I only get the left speakers, and if I pull the cable out about half way I get stereo, but the cable is not in tight. Seems like the connector is very sensitive. It's a standard mini to mini cable, but I was wondering if there is a special version of the cable that would work if plugged in all of the way.
I have had similar problems. But it seems to be working fine now. I do have inexpensive radio shack cables. If it acts up again, my thought is to try a nicer goldplated cable by belkin ($10-15$ tops). They seem to do a good job on my home audio systems/ IPOD connections.

Thank you. Went to Radio Shack and got a "stereo" mini to mini cable. The one I originally used I found around the house and was a "mono" mini to mini cable. Just assumed it was stereo, but did not pick up the difference until looking for the right cable at Radio Shack. Five dollar new cable works like a charm!
I am not sure of my screen size, never thought of measuring it. My navigation is CD based, so it must be after 2003MY when they switched to DVD. May be cheaper to buy a 2007 than try to retrofit an AUX. [:D]
