Hi Folks and thanks for all your previous help. I now have a comand 2.0 unit and want to replace it with my old comand 2.5. My main problem is there is an extra plug on my wiring loom that use to plug into the comand 2.5 but there is no place to plug it into Comand 2.0. Can anyone give me some advise on what i need to do to upgrade. What is this extra plug on wiring loom used for ?
I now have 3 comands. Origanal Comand 2.5, MOST 16:9 Comand and finaly new B2B Comand 2.0 16:9.
I think i will have to try and sell some of them
I bought a unit from a 2003 and tried to install in a 2000. I never got the job done and ended up selling it on EBay. You need a plug for the speakers if I remember correctly.
I believe the extra plug that you have is just an adittional power plug from your old comand, but you won`t need it most likely. Also, you need to go to the dealer to have the new one programmed into the car`s ECU
My dealer replace the 2000 command in 2003 in order to work on V60i from old startac. I do not know if they upgraded the command or not. What is the purpose to upgrade the Command from 2.0 to more recent version ?
the upgrade is from 2.5 (old square display taking up 2.5 bays ) to the wide screen later type (but cd not dvd) which is 2 bays
It has been done before, in fact several times.
The upgrade from 2.5 1999-2002 can be made to 2003 widescreen COMAND. You can forget about the MOST version. It helps quite a bit if you have BOSE sound system as those remove the speaker plug. The D2B optics are the same.
The power connector should be identical. That is ISO A on both.
The problem is that you have an unused power connector for the map reading drive. That doesnt get used any more. And you have to move quite a lot of pins around on the C1 C2 connectors. That is where the problem resides.
